Felony crimes of violence, felony sale of controlled substances, felony sexual related crimes, lewd and lascivious crimes, indecent exposure crimes and felony child abuse crimes.

NOT ACCEPTABLE TO VOLUNTEER IF CONVICTION WAS WITHIN THE LAST 10 YEARS:

Other felony crimes and any other misdemeanor crimes of sexual nature, or misdemeanor crimes related to children.

NOT ACCEPTABLE TO VOLUNTEER IF CONVICTION WAS WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS:
Misdemeanor drug crimes, misdemeanor crimes of violence, misdemeanor crimes involving weapons.

For the purposes of these volunteer guidelines, criminal convictions mean a conviction by a jury or by a Court and shall also include the forfeiture of any bail, bond or other security deposited to secure appearance by a person charged with having committed a felony or misdemeanor, the payment of a fine, a plea of nolo contendere, the imposition of a deferred or suspended sentence by the Court, adjudication withheld, a finding of guilt, a plea of no contest or pre-trial intervention.

CONSULTANT RESPONSIBILITY FORM 

1.   Contact assigned teacher. Agree on date/time of class. Inform teacher at least one day in advance if you need to reschedule.
2.   Become familiar with school procedures.  Enter through main office and sign appropriate volunteer binder. Arrive early for each class session.
3.   Agree not to have any inappropriate contact inside or outside classroom with any students met through JA class including those students 18 years of age and older.
Some examples of inappropriate contact include:
·         Violations of state laws regarding child abuse, providing alcohol, drugs or tobacco on a school campus, etc.
·         Dress that violates the school’s faculty dress code or is inconsistent with normal business attire.
·         Use of inappropriate language or gestures within an educational setting.
·         Physical contact that is inappropriate to a teacher-pupil professional relationship considering the age and gender of the student.
 
These are examples only and not intended to be a comprehensive list. There could be other actions, which could result in suspension as a volunteer.
